Collective action and enterprise are proven pathways for empowering rural women to achieve their economic goals. In fragile rural economies, single-owned enterprises struggle to stay afloat because the owners lack skills and capital and cannot take risks alone. This is especially true for women who lack access to inputs, training, credit and markets that they need to gain social and economic mobility. Africa Development Promise partners with agricultural cooperatives to put the power of the collective behind every woman and the family she supports. We offer capacity-building support for the cooperatives themselves, as well as vocational training for women to branch out into new enterprises that expand their livelihoods and future resilience.

We believe that empowering women is the key to the sustainable socio-economic development of local communities. Africa Development Promise has been working in Rwanda and Uganda since 2014 using proven pathways for empowering rural women to achieve their livelihood goals.
Our focus is to gain a deeper understanding of the barriers that women face in the communities where we serve and together address the challenges that equip women with the training and resources to develop climate-smart businesses and savings groups. Our programs are driven by the following.
